Integrating culture with business
to interact with all audiences for positive change!
ABOUT ME
For over twenty years, I have led projects in the public and private sector involving market analysis, program development, non-profit advocacy, capacity building, marketing and strategic communications. In all of them, I have worked with a multicultural team and audience, which leads me to what I do today: offer advice on cultural competency integration to engage audiences and make an impact in a multicultural world.
From women’s cancer advocacy and community engaged research, to public health communications and promotion, I dedicate my expertise to design strategies that allow my clients to incorporate culture at the planning stages of their projects to get better outcomes. My background in economics and research helps me with observation, evaluation and understanding of the power of culture. My twelve years of advocacy for improving access to quality health care led me to participate in different community and academic boards, which keeps me up to date. In the last decade, I've had the pleasure of working in the health field where cultural competency is a requirement today.
In my journey to advocate for minority communities' health, I've had the honor of working with respected researchers of Georgetown and Howard University with whom I continue to collaborate. Also, through pioneering on the development of the model of Patient Navigation for Latinas in the USA, in former years I also served as an advisor for national and regional organizations such as the Komen National Hispanic/Latina Advisory Council, the Latin American Cancer Research Coalition Community Advisory Board-a Special Population Network funded by NCI-; The Susan G Komen for the Cure National Capital Area Community Profile Report Advisory Council; the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center Health Disparities Initiative Community Advisory Board and the Lombardi/Medstar Capital Breast Care Center; and the Lance Armstron Foundation Promotoras de Salud Training Advisory Board.
I continue to see the need for understanding culture in everything we do today. I decided to combine my passions and my business, which are both led by culture; and here we are.
